Twas The Day Before Christmas by Nita Marie Clark follows Billy and Nell, who arrive at the North Pole on the day before Christmas to help with preparations. The elves are busy wrapping gifts and checking the reindeer while Santa enjoys cocoa and checks that his suit still fits. Billy and Nell reminisce about last year’s adventure and share stories with Mrs. Claus. But Santa’s leg is injured in mid-flight, making him unable to continue delivering the presents. Back at the North Pole, Santa's logistical aide, Cecil, and Mrs. Claus, alongside a group of fantastic figures—the Grand Wizard, Father Time, Mother Nature, and the Sandman—huddle together to devise a plan to address the crisis. Discussions revolve around who can safely take over, while Billy, Nell, and others are asked to step in. Time is short, the reindeer must be readied, and the sleigh requires pilots.
Twas The Day Before Christmas by Nita Marie Clark sings with lively rhymes and a warm-hearted plot that pulls together playful comedy and brilliant teamwork when a crisis makes it impossible for Santa to complete his rounds. This is an excellent holiday addition to the December rotation, especially with its message that demonstrates how many hands make light work. The longer style of writing and the rhythm make it ideal for reading aloud. Clark describes everything wonderfully, and the dialogue lands well. Overall, this is a tale that will leave young readers smiling at how generosity, teamwork, and brave small acts turn a fraught night into a joyful Christmas. We had a lot of fun reading Twas The Day Before Christmas.
